Environmental Scientist / Geologist II - Portland, OR

What You’ll Do:

• Perform computer-based research of site history and geologic conditions
• Help draft and organize work plans
• Prepare health and safety plans
• Conduct sampling (soil, sediment, rock, groundwater, soil gas, and ambient air)
• Oversee subcontractors to accomplish field activities
• Monitor worksite for safe working conditions; report unsafe conditions
• Prepare and maintain documentation on field activities and observations
• Prepare site maps, cross-sectional diagrams, and other report elements based on fieldwork and/or laboratory results
• Contribute to preparation of investigation reports
• Obtain and keep current 40-hour HAZWOPER training

Minimum Required Key Qualifications:

• 3 to 5 years’ experience in environmental investigations and cleanup projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, or a related field.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Adept at performing work with accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to multitask while ensuring accuracy and timely completion of work
• Possess a proactive approach to overcoming obstacles with creativity and adaptability

Akana will provide HAZWOPER training if not already certified. There will be limited out-of-town travel throughout the year.

This position will require in-office presence at the Akana office in Milwaukie, Oregon – just off Highway 224 with ample free parking.
