We are seeking an Environmental Scientist (EIR Scientist 1) to join our team. The Environmental Scientist I will be responsible for conducting research, collecting and analyzing data, and assisting in the development of environmental protection policies.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology or Engineering
  • Must have 1 to 3 years experience performing field assignments including environmental sampling activities
  • Other degrees are acceptable, but with more years of experience
  • Must have a valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle
  • Possess physical strength, stamina and dexterity to perform environmental site activities including field sampling

Technical Requirements

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER
  • Ability to read and interpret maps and directions as well as project specifications and plans
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs required
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have the ability to work independently and with project teams
  • Must have some knowledge of Federal Laws and Regulations pertaining to the Environment

Other Miscellaneous Qualities

  • Ability to travel periodically and perform field assignments including environmental sampling
  • Ability to bend and stoop to be at floor level
  • Familiarity with IPhone and/or IPad
  • Ability to travel in New Jersey, throughout LI and the 5- Boroughs in NYC
  • OSHA 30 hours a plus

Job Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Perform soil/groundwater sampling;
  • Perform staff level air, water and waste environmental compliance reporting and sampling.
  • Perform property due Diligence assessments; and support various projects in the New York and New Jersey areas

Compensation

$25.00 - $27.00 per hour.

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
