Job summary

The Energy & Environment Cabinet, Dept for Environmental Protection, is seeking an Environmental Scientist Advisor in Hazard, KY. The position may telecommute; telework arrangements may be modified at any time. You will help public water systems comply with state and federal drinking water rules.

Holders will support AWOP coordination, represent the division in meetings, train staff and operators, develop conference presentations, and manage reporting and approvals for designated regions.

Qualifications

• Education in natural, biological or physical science at bachelor level.
• Five years of experience in natural resources, environmental control or related areas.
• Graduate study substitutes for experience; experience substitutes for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Area-Wide Optimization Program (AWOP) point of contact for assigned regions.
• Represent the Kentucky Division of Water in meetings with government officials, public water systems, and the public.
• Train agency staff and public water system operators.
• Develop presentations for trainings and professional conferences.
• Oversee sanitary survey report communications, track responses and compliance, and issue ASP and water treatment approvals as needed.
