Walden Environmental Engineering, PLLC is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist for our Oyster Bay team. You will lead Phase I and Phase II ESAs, oversee fieldwork, data evaluation, and report preparation, and manage client relationships.
With 3–5 years of post-bachelor experience and a background in environmental consulting, you will balance office and field work, support NYSDEC-regulated projects, and help grow into a project manager role.
Walden Environmental Engineering is a growing, family-owned environmental consulting firm that has been solving environmental challenges across Long Island, New York City, and the Hudson Valley since 1995. We're adding an experienced Environmental Scientist to our Oyster Bay team.
Don't let the word "Engineering" in our name narrow your read on this role. Our environmental practice is built on geologists, biologists, chemists, environmental scientists, and engineers who run investigations, manage compliance programs, and lead client relationships. What matters here is your experience doing the work, not which department your degree came from.
You have 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience with Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, and you're ready to take ownership of projects rather than just execute tasks on them. You're comfortable writing a report one day and pulling groundwater samples the next, and you'd rather do both than be stuck doing only one.
If you've spent time at a large firm and want your work to actually be seen, or you're at a small shop and want a deeper bench and a real career path, we'd like to talk.
Candidates always ask, so here it is: plan on roughly a 50/50 split between office and field, and expect it to shift week to week. Most field days are half-days on Long Island or in the city. A full day at a site in the outer boroughs happens occasionally, not constantly.
This is not a role where you live in a truck, and it's also not a role for someone who's finished with fieldwork. We need someone who's flexible and still likes getting outside.
