Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Environmental Scientist for a contract role based out of Tinley Park, IL, starting October 15. The engagement runs through Summer 2027 with on-site hours Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm and additional OT during the early phase of the project.

This is a hands-on field position focused on site investigations and sampling. You will conduct field investigations, log soils, collect soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, and soil gas samples, maintain daily logs, support

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology or related field, preferred
• 2+ years of experience with environmental field testing
• OSHA 40-hour
• Soft skills: reliable, flexible/adaptable, solution-oriented, able to make mistakes/take risks, resourceful, eager to learn
• Has a reliable source of transportation

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental field investigations and site assessments.
• Log soil borings and document subsurface conditions.
• Collect soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, and soil gas samples.
• Maintain accurate field documentation, including daily logs, boring logs, sampling logs, and site photographs.
• Assist with sample preparation, labeling, and coordination of field activities.
• Support environmental data review and evaluation.
• Assist with the preparation of technical reports and project deliverables.
• Follow health and safety procedures and utilize PPE during field operations.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure quality, compliance, and successful project execution.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
