Mott MacDonald is seeking motivated environmental professionals for roles tied to North American projects in environmental science and engineering. You will contribute to field investigations, data collection, and design reviews across diverse sites, supporting sustainable outcomes for communities.

Qualifications

• Associate, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in environmental science from an accredited university.
• 1+ years of relevant experience.
• Methodical approach to problem solving to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
• Excellent verbal communication skills to liaise confidently with clients and team members.
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail with strong report writing using Microsoft or equivalent software.
• Excellent teamwork skills and collaboration with colleagues.
• Demonstrated interest in environmental projects through study, internships, volunteering, or memberships is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.
• Ability to navigate uneven terrain on active construction sites; capable of operating a 4x4 vehicle.
• Willingness to train and obtain STI SP001 AST certification or equivalent.
• Current MSHA 30 CFR 46 or 48 Health and Safety Certification or ability to obtain.
• CESSWI and CPESC certifications or permitting experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

• GPS navigation to remote project sites.
• Regularly attend site inspections, investigations, and monitoring.
• Surface water flow measurements and groundwater sampling using approved methodologies.
• Actively participating in project, client and team meetings.
• Reviewing, preparing, and modifying designs.
• Analyzing reports, specifications, and studies.
• Undertaking a ‘digital by default’ approach in deliverables.
• Actively participating in our Early Careers Professionals Network.

Qualifications

To be considered for this 2026 position, you’ll need:

• An associate’s, bachelor’s, or master's degree in environmental science, or a related field, with a focus on environmental science from an accredited university
• 1+ years of relevant experience
• Methodical approach to problem solving to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
• Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members
• Excellent technical written communication and attention to detail, with an ability to demonstrate good report writing through use of Microsoft or equivalent production software
• Excellent teamwork skills, collaborates effectively with colleagues
• Demonstrable interest in environmental projects through relevant experience, such as your field of study, internships, volunteering, or relevant association memberships is considered as an asset
• A valid Driver’s License and a passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
• Ability to safely stoop, lift, crawl, climb, and walk as necessary to navigate uneven terrain and obstacles on active construction sites.
• Ability to safely operate a 4x4 vehicle in on/off road conditions
• Have or be willing to train and acquire Steel Tank Institute (STI) SP001 AST (Aboveground Storage Tank) Inspection certification or equivalent.
• Must have current certification or attend training to obtain current MSHA 30 CFR 46 or 48 Health and Safety Certification
• Certified Erosion, Sediment and StormWater Inspector (CESSWI) and (Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control) CPESC certifications or permitting experience are a plus
