Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a field-based environmental scientist in Anchorage, Alaska.

You will conduct groundwater and surface water sampling, support solid waste permit applications, and collaborate with project managers and clients to meet permitting needs. Qualifications include a Bachelor's in Environmental Sciences, knowledge of wetlands delineation, strong writing and communication skills, MS Office proficiency, and a commitment to our employee-owned culture.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct field work: groundwater sampling,surface water sampling, and landfill gas monitoring and sampling.
  • Support solid waste permit applications, including writing and reviewing technical work products (environmentat documents and technical studies).
  • Work with project managers, clients, and subject matter experts for permitting needs.

Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to exemplary quality standards for professional practice and deliverables. Candidates must have field work experience and be able to work safely and efficiently in remote outdoor settings in Alaska under a variety of weather conditions. Candidates must be able to work cooperatively with professionals from other disciplines, clients, project managers, business development professionals, and operational leadership. This is a full-time position based in Anchorage, Alaska.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 to 5 years environmental permitting and/or compliance experience in Alaska
  • Experience with field sampling, monitoring, solid waste/landfill, and air quality
  • Preference given to local candidates
