Job summary

Camp Live Oak Inc in Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking an enthusiastic Environmental Science Teacher to lead hands-on lessons for children ages 5-13 across our summer camp and school-break programs. You’ll help campers explore ecosystems, wildlife, conservation, and sustainability in a fun, active camp environment.

Qualifications

• Background in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
• Prior teaching, tutoring, or camp instruction experience preferred.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging environmental science lessons and activities for campers.
• Lead outdoor field experiences, nature walks, and ecological exploration sessions.
• Teach core concepts including ecosystems, biodiversity, conservation, and sustainability.
• Supervise and ensure the safety of students during all indoor and outdoor activities.
• Develop age-appropriate, hands‑on STEM curriculum aligned with environmental themes.
• Foster curiosity and environmental stewardship among campers of all ages.
• Collaborate with fellow camp educators to create a cohesive and enriching program.

About the Role: Camp Live Oak is looking for an enthusiastic Environmental Science Teacher to help children ages 5-13 explore nature through hands-on learning and outdoor activities. Our programs include a 10-week summer camp, Thanksgiving week, two weeks during the Christmas holiday break, and two weeks during spring break around Easter.

You’ll help campers discover local ecosystems, wildlife, conservation, and sustainability in a fun, active camp environment. Activities should be engaging and appropriate for different ages and experience levels.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging environmental science lessons and activities for campers
• Lead outdoor field experiences, nature walks, and ecological exploration sessions
• Teach core concepts including ecosystems, biodiversity, conservation, and sustainability
• Supervise and ensure the safety of students during all indoor and outdoor activities
• Develop age-appropriate, hands‑on STEM curriculum aligned with environmental themes
• Foster curiosity and environmental stewardship among campers of all ages
• Collaborate with fellow camp educators to create a cohesive and enriching program

Requirements:

• Background in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field
• Prior teaching, tutoring, or camp instruction experience preferred
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Passion for environmental education and working with youth
• Ability to work outdoors in a warm, Florida climate
• CPR/First Aid certification is a plus
• Enthusiastic, patient, and adaptable team player
