Job summary

Leidos in Virginia is seeking an Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) Engineer to support regulatory compliance and safety performance. You will conduct inspections, collect data, maintain records, and participate in training and emergency response activities to ensure a safe workplace.

The role emphasizes inspections, monitoring, incident investigations, and hazard controls across facilities and programs, with opportunities to contribute to safety initiatives and training efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience; additional experience in lieu of degree accepted.
• Strong knowledge of safety laws and hazard analysis.
• Experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections, audits, and safety walk-throughs to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Collect and maintain environmental monitoring data (air, water, noise).
• Support incident investigations with data and documentation.
• Enforce proper PPE use and safety protocols.
• Maintain SDS and chemical inventories; update records.
• Assist in planning and delivering safety trainings and toolbox talks.
• Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste labeling, storage, disposal.
• Maintain ESH records, logs, and regulatory reports.
• Support emergency preparedness, spill response, and drills.
