Job summary

Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) in Abingdon, MD is seeking a Staff Natural Resources Scientist with up to 4 years of experience to join our expanding team. You will perform fieldwork and reporting to support natural resources projects across the region.

Responsibilities include wetland and habitat assessments, data analysis, and regulatory coordination with clients and regulators. This role offers growth, collaboration, and the chance to protect landscapes through applied science.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, or a related field.
  • 0–4 years of relevant experience, including fieldwork.
  • Self-motivation and a passion to develop as an environmental professional.
  • Physical ability to carry up to 40 lbs of field equipment and navigate uneven terrain for extended periods.
  • GIS and/or AutoCAD experience, or a strong desire to become proficient.
  • Experience and/or understanding of wetland delineation and forest stand delineation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other basic business software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Comfortable working independently, including fieldwork, with periodic travel.

Responsibilities

  • Fieldwork & Assessments: Wetland and stream delineations, habitat assessments, mitigation design, endangered species surveys, forest stand delineations, and habitat management.
  • Data & Reporting: Mapping, data analysis, and preparation of technical reports.
  • Regulatory Coordination: Collaborate with clients, regulators, and engineers to prepare reports and submit federal, state, and local permit applications for wetlands and natural resources.
