Job summary

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection seeks a Planning Analyst in Tallahassee to support the Florida Resilient Program. The role requires broad knowledge in engineering, geology, data science, GIS, and environmental science.

You will assist with planning, funding, permitting, and monitoring of resilience adaptation projects, coordinating with staff and government agencies to improve coastal and inland flood resilience for Florida’s critical assets.

Qualifications

• At least six years of verifiable related experience; post-secondary degrees may be used as an alternative for four years of experience on a year-for-year basis.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Ability to travel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ArcGIS desktop and mobile applications.

Responsibilities

• Technical environmental program support for Florida Resilient grants, including reviews of deliverables and eligibility.
• Conducts technical reviews of resilience projects and monitoring data, and provides comments to the project manager.
• Assist with resilience-related projects and draft reports with long-term strategies.
• Assist Field Staff with inspections to evaluate project tasks and grant compliance.
• Review grant applications, identify eligible entities, evaluate and score applications, and support QA on evaluations.
