Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking an Environmental Remediation Scientist/Geologist for our Hamilton, NJ office. This role focuses on environmental data evaluation, technical writing, and field services across remediation projects for major clients.

The position is hybrid, requiring in-person work at least two days per week, with responsibilities including planning field activities, preparing regulatory reports, data analysis, and coordination with clients and subcontractors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, or related discipline.
  • 4-8 years of environmental work experience.
  • Soil and/or groundwater sampling experience.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Experience with preparing regulatory reports (Site Investigation Reports, Remedial Investigation Reports, Remedial Action Reports).
  • Experience with contaminants including chlorinated compounds, petroleum compounds, PCBs, PFAS, and metals.
  • QA/QC experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical documents including reports and site evaluation documents.
  • Prepare regulatory reports (Site Investigation, Remedial Investigation, Remedial Action).
  • Analyze and enter environmental data.

  • Ensure quality execution of tasks.
  • Maintain lab samples and field equipment management.
  • Manage subcontractors performing environmental sampling/construction activities.
  • Participate in safety culture.

As an Environmental Remediation Scientist/Geologist, you will perform environmental data evaluation, technical writing, field activities, and overall field services assistance at remediation project sites for large petroleum, retail gasoline, and major utilities clients across the state of New Jersey.

This hybrid position is available in the Hamilton, NJ office. Candidates must be in person at least two (2) days per week.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and oversee field activities related to soil and/or groundwater remedial investigations.
  • Prepare technical documents that include report writing and site evaluation documents.
  • Preparing regulatory reports including Site Investigation Reports, Remedial Investigation Reports, and Remedial Action Reports.
  • Analyze and enter environmental data.
  • Communicate with Kleinfelder staff, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Ensure quality execution of tasks assigned.
  • Maintain laboratory samples and field equipment management.
  • Manage subcontractors performing environmental sampling and/or construction related activities.
  • Participate in Kleinfelder’s safety culture.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, or related discipline.
  • 4-8 years of experience in environmental work.
  • Soil and/or ground water sample collection experience.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Experience with preparing regulatory reports, Site Investigation Reports, Remedial Investigation Reports, and Remedial Action Reports.
  • Experience with various contaminants including chlorinated compounds, petroleum compounds, PCBs, PFAS compounds, and metals.
  • Experience with Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC).
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow direction and work independently, as well as, in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills.
Preferred Experience/Certifications:
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.

Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance withNew Jersey’s Pay Equity Transparency Law.Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $74,000.00 - $100,000.00.
