Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking an Environmental Remediation Intern for Summer 2027 in Virginia Beach or Reston, VA. You will collaborate with project managers, scientists, geologists, and engineers on soil and groundwater sampling, remediation system maintenance, and data-driven reporting.

Based out of the Eastern United States, you’ll perform field activities up to 75% and may travel to support world-class projects, growing within a leading global engineering company.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a degree seeking program in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or closely related field.
• Completion of at least two years of collegiate coursework.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
• Willingness to perform field work.
• Driver's License required.
• Ability to work in Virginia Beach, VA or Reston, VA.

Responsibilities

• Assist project teams with field activities including soil and groundwater sampling.

Your impact

We are searching for an Environmental Remediation Intern to join our team in : Virginia Beach or Reston, VA;. As part of our team, you’ll have the chance to work on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients’ challenges locally and worldwide

Based out of the Eastern United States (preferred locations: Virginia Beach or Reston, VA;) you’ll assist a team of project managers, scientists, geologists, and engineers in delivering environmental services on time and within budget for world class projects. You’ll work with a knowledgeable and supportive group of professional staff as you plan and execute field activities including soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and remediation system maintenance; prepare scopes of work for subcontracts, conduct data analysis on field and laboratory data sets, and create technical reports documenting completed activities and results. Estimated time spent doing field work is approximately up to 75%, with some of that being out-of-town travel.

Here's what you'll need

• Currently enrolled in a degree seeking program for Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or closely related field
• Completion of at least two years of collegiate coursework
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Willingness to perform field work
• Drivers License Required
• Ability to work in one of the preferred locations for this internship (Virginia Beach, VA; Reston, VA)

Ideally, you'll also have:

• 3.0 GPA
• A previous internship related to your field of study
• Ability to communicate with all levels of management within Jacobs
• Self-driven time management and organizational skills
• Ability to obtain 40-hour hazardous waste operations and emergency response (HAZWOPER) training and current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher class, if needed for role

The base salary range for this position is $54,400.00 to $60,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
