Job summary

GHD is seeking an Environmental Remediation Consultant, Emergency Response to join the GHD FIRST team. The role leads emergency responses nationwide, guiding projects from initial site stabilization through investigation, remediation, restoration, and regulatory coordination.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with an environmental, engineering, or remediation consulting firm.
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience managing environmental investigation, remediation, and compliance projects under state and federal regulatory programs.
• Experience supporting private-sector industrial clients (rail, pipeline, manufacturing, chemical, energy).
• Experience managing project financial performance including budgets, forecasting, invoicing, and subcontractor management.
• Experience leading environmental field programs including investigations, sampling, monitoring, remediation implementation, and contractor oversight.
• Experience responding to environmental emergencies and supporting preparedness, drills, exercises, and field response operations.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills for multi-priority, multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage environmental emergency response, investigation, remediation, restoration, and compliance projects from proposal through completion.
• Combine hands-on field work with office-based project management and support.
• Serve as the primary client contact and lead all aspects of project delivery (scope, schedule, budget, forecasting, invoicing, reporting).
• Develop technical strategies, scopes, cost estimates, remedial approaches, work plans, and regulatory solutions.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate specialists, field personnel, subcontractors, and contractors.
• Support investigations, corrective actions, remediation programs, site closure strategies, and regulatory engagement.
• Prepare proposals, technical reports, regulatory deliverables, and client-facing documents; support BD and account growth.
• Mentor staff, support emergency response readiness, and represent GHD in client interactions and after-hours incidents.
