Qualifications

  • Supervisory or coordination experience desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Regulatory Compliance Plans and Environmental Management Plans.
  • Assist with project-related environmental, regulatory, and health activities.
  • Identify and implement environmental practices and lessons learned.
  • Obtain and track permits, licenses, and regulatory approvals.
  • Monitor project compliance status and maintain records.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning teams to integrate environmental requirements.
  • Provide environmental input for contractor bid packages, schedules and cost estimates.
  • Recommend measures to avoid or mitigate environmental impacts and monitor their implementation.
  • Review contractor Environmental Management Plans, Waste Management Plans, Spill Response Plans, Health Plans and related deliverables.
  • Provide guidance on regulatory compliance to contractors and project personnel.
  • Conduct routine field inspections and assess contractor work sites.
  • Identify, investigate, document, and report noncompliance.
  • Ensure forms, inspection records, and reports are completed on time.
  • Prepare internal and external environmental/compliance reports.
  • Coordinate environmental consultants and technical specialists.
  • Maintain communication between field locations, contractors and SHE management.
  • Assist with environmental training and awareness sessions.
  • Support water-transfer and water-recycling activities.
  • Monitor contractor compliance and environmental performance in the field.

Scope

The Environmental & Regulatory Technician II supports environmental and regulatory compliance activities for field operations and projects. This position coordinates with project teams, contractors, consultants, and site leadership to implement environmental programs, obtain required permits and approvals, monitor contractor performance, and maintain accurate compliance documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of Regulatory Compliance Plans and Environmental Management Plans.
  • Assist with project-related environmental, regulatory, socioeconomic, and health activities.
  • Help identify and implement appropriate environmental practices and applicable lessons learned.
  • Obtain and track required permits, licenses, and regulatory approvals.
  • Monitor project compliance status and maintain supporting records.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to integrate environmental requirements into project designs and execution plans.
  • Provide environmental and regulatory input for contractor bid packages, project schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Recommend measures to avoid or mitigate environmental impacts and monitor their implementation.
  • Review contractor Environmental Management Plans, Waste Management Plans, Spill Response Plans, Health Plans, and related deliverables.
  • Provide contractors and project personnel with guidance concerning regulatory compliance and environmental performance.
  • Conduct routine field inspections and assessments of contractor work sites.
  • Identify, investigate, document, and report environmental or regulatory noncompliance.
  • Ensure monitoring forms, inspection records, reports, and other compliance documents are completed and submitted accurately and on time.
  • Prepare internal and external environmental and regulatory compliance reports.
  • Coordinate environmental consultants and technical specialists performing project-specific work.
  • Maintain communication between field locations, contractors, project personnel, and SHE management.
  • Assist with environmental and regulatory training and awareness sessions.
  • Support water-transfer and water-recycling activities.
  • Monitor contractor compliance and environmental performance in the field.
Skills and Qualifications
  • University degree in Environmental Science, Natural Science, Natural Resource Management, Engineering, Social Science, or another technical field related to environmental and regulatory management.
  • Five or more years of relevant environmental or regulatory experience preferred.
  • Candidates with two to five years of experience may be considered when their experience aligns closely with the position.
  • Water-transfer and water-recycling experience.
  • Environmental experience supporting construction, oil and gas, or another extractive industry.
  • Contractor-management experience.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to maintain accurate electronic records and reports.
  • Experience conducting field inspections and monitoring contractor compliance.
  • Familiarity with environmental permits, regulatory approvals, spill response, waste management, and compliance reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal, organizational, and team collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of external project financing is desirable.
  • Supervisory or work-coordination experience is desirable.
