Job summary

State of Michigan seeks a qualified Environmental Quality Analyst to manage state-funded investigations and corrective actions at contaminated sites under Part 213. You will oversee investigations by private parties and their contractors, review reports for compliance, and prioritize responses based on contamination levels.

With supervision, you will evaluate site conditions, assist in selecting corrective actions, and direct on-site cleanup activities including sampling and verification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, engineering, physical sciences, resource development, or resource management.
  • OR Bachelor's degree with at least 30 semester credits in biochemistry, biology, botany, chemistry, crop and soil science, engineering, environmental health, environmental science, forest management, geology, ecology, meteorology, microbiology, physics, remote sensing, resource development, resource management, toxicology, or zoology.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of a Unit Supervisor, manage state-funded investigation and corrective action at sites of environmental contamination in accordance with Part 213.
  • Oversee site investigation and corrective action conducted by private parties and their contractors, consultants, and project managers and review reports submitted for compliance with Part 213.
  • With supervision and peer guidance, evaluate site conditions and degree of contamination, prioritize site responses, and assist in evaluation and selection of corrective action for contaminated sites.
  • Direct oversight of on-site cleanup activities, including sampling and cleanup verification.

Education

Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, engineering, physical sciences, resource development, or resource management
Bachelor's degree with at least 30 credits in biochemistry, biology, botany, chemistry, crop and soil science, engineering, environmental health, environmental science, forest management, geology, ecology, meteorology, microbiology, physics, remote sensing, resource development, resource management, toxicology, or zoology
