Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment seeks a specialist to support solid waste inspection, monitoring, and enforcement across Colorado. The role provides technical and regulatory guidance to municipalities, counties, and citizens, ensuring compliant waste management and emergency response when spills occur.

The position emphasizes collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams, site investigations, and remediation oversight to protect health and the environment statewide.

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned.
• A combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to six (6) years.
• You must substantiate that you meet the minimum qualifications when filling out the Work Experience section of the application.

Responsabilités

• Drafts enforcement documents and participates as a Department representative in negotiation conferences.
• Position negotiates with facilities to identify solutions where guidance and regulations are not explicit.
• Provides statutory, regulatory, chemical and geological technical assistance to municipalities, counties, owners and citizens regarding solid waste regulations, statutes and related environmental issues.
• Responds to solid waste spills that come over the Department emergency reporting system and ensures adequate response.
