Job summary

Onterris Payroll, LLC seeks an Environmental Project Specialist to support Project Managers on planning, environmental compliance, permitting and documentation for California projects.

Bachelor's or Master's in planning or environmental science with 1–3 years' experience; strong writing, data entry, and teamwork; knowledge of environmental regulations and ArcGIS preferred.

Part-Time/Temporary, flexible hours; pay $30–$40/hr; no benefits, but PTO accrual per state policy.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in planning or environmental science.
  • 1–3 years of professional experience in environmental science/specialist roles.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations (CESA, CEQA, NEPA, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers on project tasks related to planning and documentation.
  • Review project materials, perform data entry, maintain tracking databases and QA tasks.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

A Day in the LifeThis Environmental Project Specialist role involves being responsible for supporting Project Managers on project tasks and assignments to meet project goals and deliver best-in-class services to our clients.

Job Type: Part-Time/Temporary (This position is considered temporary and as such there are no associated benefits, but you are eligible for paid time off in accordance with our state sick time policy)Pay: $30-$40/hr (based on training, duties, and project type)Schedule: This is an as-needed position with a flexible schedule and based on demand with no guaranteed minimum.

This role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support Project Managers with projects at various stages of project planning, environmental compliance, permitting, and documentation.
  • Review project materials, provide analysis, develop spreadsheets, conduct data entry, maintain project tracking, and manage database entries and quality assurance tasks.
  • Support project managers to oversee project compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assist in improving program efficiencies and support schedule management.
  • Provide peer trainings as needed.
  • Duties may include conducting environmental desktop analysis of sensitive resources, environmental construction monitoring support, writing and reviewing reports, and interacting with other company professionals and client contacts.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
  • Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Your Expertise and Skills

Bachelor's or Master's degree in planning, environmental science, biology, ecology, archaeology, or similar field1 to 3 years of professional experience as an environmental scientist/specialist, biologist, ecologist, planner, or equivalent in California with experience pertaining to environmental consultingKnowledge of current environmental regulations, including CESA, FESA, CEQA, NEPA, Section 106, amongst othersExposure to project management tasksAbility to work under pressure with multiple deadlinesProven leadership skills; identify problems and actively devise appropriate solutionsStrong technical writing and verbal communication skills.Outgoing/team player with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritiesStrong organizational and management skills.Ability to communicate in a group-oriented setting to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and leadersKnowledge of computer-aided software (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, ArcGIS, etc.)Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors
