Job summary

Atwell seeks an Environmental Project Manager for Renewable Energy projects to lead planning, budgeting, and client coordination across the eastern US. You will supervise teams, develop proposals, and manage wetland/WOTUS permitting and RTE reports in compliance with applicable laws.

The role requires strong technical writing and communication skills, experience with Clean Water Act permits, and the ability to travel as needed on projects, including energy facilities and data centers.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience leading wetland and RTE species permitting and consulting in the eastern US.
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience managing all environmental tasks on DG or utility scale solar and storage development projects in the eastern US.
  • Ability to manage and review complex wetland delineations, function and value assessments, vernal pool surveys, wildlife habitat assessments, and wetland restoration designs, and all associated reporting.
  • Understanding of federal, state and local environmental statutes and regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for proposals, reports, and hearings.
  • Experience preparing and obtaining wetland/WOTUS permits for Clean Water Act 404/401, RTE species and natural resources rules.
  • Experience conducting environmental investigation studies, including critical issues analysis and constraints mapping.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with clients and regulatory agencies.

  • Review data and reports for natural resource assessments; manage multiple projects and budgets.
  • Coordinate with Atwell scientists and leaders to advance company interests and project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Establish annual Project Manager Business Plan.
  • Develop future business.
  • Collaborate with clients and management.
  • Develop project proposals.
  • Engage, mentor, and provide technical project support to field
  • Ability to lead a highly performing client focused
  • Prepare and review technical documents, including wetland and waters of the US (WOTUS) delineation reports; and rare, threatened, and endangered (RTE) species reports.
  • Prepare and review permit applications for wetlands and WOTUS impacts, and RTE species in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines.
  • Review field data and review reports for natural resource assessments and RTE.
  • Serve as project manager and technical lead on a variety of natural resource management and renewable energy
  • Write and manage scope, schedule, and fee proposals for new opportunities.
  • Manage multiple simultaneous small and large projects, including maintaining budgets, schedules, quality of service, and subcontractor management.
  • Work closely with Atwell scientists, managers, team leaders and directors in both natural and cultural resources throughout the company to promote Atwell’s business interests in adherence to its mission, vision, and values.

  • Experience preparing and obtaining wetland/WOTUS permits for Clean Water Act Section 404/401, RTE species and natural resources rules and
  • Experience conducting environmental investigation studies, including critical issues analysis, desktop due diligence reviews, and constraints mapping.
  • Demonstrated successful client and regulatory agency
  • Experience in other areas of natural resources consulting such as wildlife surveys, botanical surveys, and familiarity with water and soil resources.
  • Ability to travel as needed for projects and meetings.
  • Experience developing project team members, assignment of work to project team members, and the budget and scheduling of projects.
  • Highly organized and proactive
  • Environmental consulting for data centers or transmission projects (preferred)
  • Experience permitting CPCN projects, particularly in Maryland (preferred)
