GEI Consultants, Inc. (GEI) is seeking an experienced senior environmental scientist, geologist, or engineer to provide project management, client development, and staff coordination as part of our active environmental practice in Glastonbury, Connecticut. In service of project success and client satisfaction, this individual will author and peer review environmental reports, provide client and regulatory guidance, mentor junior staff, resolve environmental challenges on environmental, engineering and development projects, and provide project management, client management and support to ongoing office and field work.

This is an excellent opportunity to apply your project and client management skills and collaborate with other environmental and engineering professionals. The selected candidate will serve as a member of our project management team and assist with strategically growing business for our Glastonbury, Connecticut office along with coordinating with environmental management / compliance staff throughout GEI. The successful candidate will develop opportunities with clients for our environmental services including environmental investigation and remediation, and cross selling for other services including geotechnical engineering and natural resources services.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Work on a variety of environmental projects throughout the region, but primarily in Connecticut, New York and Central Massachusetts.
  • Manage projects and direct the project activities of engineers and scientists.
  • Develop investigation and remedial strategies for various types of sites and contaminants and collaborate in the design and installation of remediation solutions, primarily under Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental (DEEP) regulations and Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) program.
  • Lead environmental site assessments and remedial and pre-design investigations.
  • Provide technical oversight of subcontractors.
  • Prepare and review work plans and technical reports.
  • Interact directly with clients and regulatory agency representatives.
  • Assist clients with problem-solving, sometimes requiring immediate attention.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with company and client personnel.
  • Develop proposals and support business development activities.
  • Actively participate in industry organizations and networking events to maintain industry relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, or similar Science.
  • 15+ years of relevant professional experience in environmental consulting.
  • CT LEP License
  • Seller/Doer mentality and experience.
  • Experience with CT DEEP regulations and LEP Programs required; experience with New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP) and the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), is a plus.
  • Client connections and ability to secure work opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills and technical report writing skills.
  • Willingness to travel on temporary assignments as needed.
  • Physical ability to perform field work including in summer and winter conditions.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
