Job summary

Terracon in Fort Collins seeks an Environmental Project Manager to lead diverse environmental projects in the local market, collaborating with scientists, geologists, and engineers to deliver compliant outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology) with 5+ years related experience, or 9 years in lieu of a degree.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current refresher.
  • Strong organizational and technical writing skills.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
  • Ability to travel to project sites periodically.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of a project, ensuring it is safely completed on time and within scope and budget.
  • Define project scope, schedule, and budget in collaboration with the client or National Account Managers.
  • Design, communicate, and implement a project plan to complete the project.
  • Lead safety efforts, including preparation and compliance with approved safety plans.
  • Identify, develop, and gather resources for the project, including preparing calculations, designs, reports, work specifications, schedules, budgets, and selecting materials, equipment, staff, and external contractors.
  • Partner with other departments or offices to secure specialized resources.
  • Conduct meetings, prepare reports, and communicate the status of the project to the project team and client.
  • Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones.
  • Coordinate with the Authorized Project Reviewer (APR) to ensure appropriate oversight and adequate time for critical review junctures.
  • Coordinate with accounting for financial management of invoicing, collections, and business intelligence.
  • Develop an understanding of project-related risk and apply company risk policies.
  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects, engaging APRs early.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology

General Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Environmental Project Manager to join our dynamic team at the Fort Collins office. The role requires a mid to senior level environmental professional responsible for leading environmental projects of varied size and complexity, working closely with a dedicated team of scientists, geologists, and engineers to deliver projects in the local market. The position involves identifying, evaluating, and recommending risk and remediation strategies/designs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, preparing risk assessments and technical documents such as proposals, reports, and regulatory agency correspondence. Projects may include Phase I/II ESAs, tank closure assessments, limited site investigations, and brownfield projects.
