Job summary

LAUKOA is seeking a Project Manager to support our growing environmental team on technical consulting tasks across engineering, geology, biology, ecology, chemistry, and regulatory issues.

The ideal candidate will coordinate with Senior Project Managers to develop environmental reports, manage field tasks, and contribute to NEPA assessments, restoration, and remediation projects. Travel to Hawaii and other US sites is required.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to author and oversee technical documents with strong writing skills.
  • 3–5 years of environmental project execution experience including CERCLA, RCRA, NEPA, CAA, and/or CWA.
  • Ability to access government properties based on a background check.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.

  • Manage and complete project deliverables independently.
  • Create, track, and report scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Maintain submittals, meeting minutes, progress reports, and work plans.

Job description

SUMMARY:

LAUKOA is seeking a Project Manager to support our growing environmental team that is executing technical consulting work. The Project Manager will work on detailed and routine environmental assignments addressing engineering, geology, biology, ecology, chemistry, and regulatory issues. The ideal candidate will work closely with Senior Project Managers and Program Managers to support project management duties, development of environmental reports, and field tasks. Experience with PFAS, Five-Year/Periodic Reviews, and/or Community Outreach is preferred. This position offers the opportunity to learn and gain experience across a range of environmental projects that include restoration, remediation, compliance, NEPA assessments, and munitions response. Duties may include project management, data analysis, scientific and technical report preparation, public involvement, field operations, proposal preparation, and training of junior staff. This position can be based on Oahu, Hawaii, but the role requires travel at a minimum to South Kohala and Hilo, Hawaii.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide professional support to Senior Staff in customer interface and client relations instrumental in executing project requirements.
  • Work independently to manage and complete project deliverables.
  • Create, track, and report project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Manage project submittals, including meeting minutes, monthly progress reports, work plans, and project reports.
  • Develop and maintain vendor and subcontractor relationships and assist with Contracts/Procurement to support project execution.
  • Work with Senior Staff, Project Delivery Teams, and Project Controls to document client- or project-specific financial reporting including managing purchase order requests and distributions.
  • Tracking project financials and identifying risks, and reporting to Senior Staff
  • Manage deliverables ensuring compliance with project requirements and submittal deadlines.
  • Execute and manage task orders while maintaining cost and schedule.
  • Support specific portions of a broader assignment in conjunction with experienced senior and project staff (engineers, geologists, biologists, ecologists, archaeologists).
  • Gather and correlate environmental data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Work on routine environmental assignments involving engineering, geology, biology, ecology, chemistry, and other related fields; some engineering and geologic analyses may involve conducting calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Travel Requirements:
  • Periodic business travel is required and expected about 25-50% of the year;
  • Overnight travel is required.
  • Travel is anticipated to consist of fieldwork at project sites, client visits, and work at partner offices across the United States.
  • The position may involve outdoor fieldwork.
    • Fieldwork may require the candidate to walk over uneven terrain up to 8 hours per day.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3 to 5 years of experience executing environmental tasks for geographically dispersed environmental investigations under CERCLA, RCRA, NEPA, CAA, and/or CWA
  • Must be capable of authoring and overseeing authorship of technical documents; strong technical writing skills are required
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training (CFR 1910.120) or ability to obtain within 30 days
  • Good working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be capable of accessing government properties based upon a background check
  • BA/BS in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related academic field
  • Extensive experience using the DENIX 3Rs Explosives Safety Education Program, supporting Government personnel with outreach activities, and developing materials for Institutional Controls programs
