Location of Position: Land and Materials Administration, Lead Accreditation and Oversight Division, 1800 Washington Blvd., Baltimore, MD 21230
The Environmental Program Manager I will manage and oversee the Lead Accreditation and Oversight Division of the Lead Poisoning Prevention Program. This division enforces provisions under The Environment Article Title 6, Subtitle 10 and related regulations including COMAR 26.02.07, 26.16.01-.06, 26.16.05, and 26.16.06. The position involves exposure to uncomfortable surroundings, hazardous conditions, and potential lead dust and asbestos during field visits to residential, commercial, and public buildings across the state. Physical demands include lifting 50 pounds or more, climbing ladders, and using protective equipment such as goggles, gloves, and masks.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in engineering or biological, environmental, or physical sciences.
Experience: Three years supervising a professional staff or as a project supervisor in a related field.
Notes: Additional experience in engineering, public administration, or law can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. Registration as an Environmental Sanitarian or Professional Engineer can also substitute for the degree. Military service in relevant classifications can substitute for education and experience on a year-for-year basis.
Strong understanding of environmental laws, leadership skills, experience managing complex projects, stakeholder engagement, report writing, data analysis, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google tools, and compliance systems. Experience in lead poisoning prevention programs is preferred.
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in Maryland if duties require vehicle operation.
