Job summary

The FAA seeks an Environmental Manager to ensure compliance with NEPA, FAA Orders, and federal/state environmental requirements across airport construction and modernization projects in the DC area. You will lead environmental assessments, coordinate permits, serve as liaison with FAA offices and regulators, and integrate environmental protections into project planning.

A bachelor's degree and 5–7 years in an environmental role are required; OSHA certifications are preferred, with local DC/MD/VA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety or similar education.
• 5-7 years' Experience in an environmental project manager or similar role.
• Preferred: OSHA certifications
• Highly Preferred: Candidates local to the DC, MD and VA area

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance activities for airport construction and modernization projects, ensuring adherence to NEPA, FAA Orders, and regulations.
• Coordinate environmental assessments and impact studies (EAs, EISs, CE, etc.).
• Serve as primary liaison with FAA environmental offices, airport authorities, and regulatory agencies.
• Develop and maintain environmental permitting roadmap (wetlands, stormwater, hazardous materials).
• Integrate environmental considerations into project planning and design.
• Track and manage environmental permits and approvals with dashboards.
