Job summary

Calgon Carbon | A Kuraray Company, based in Pittsburgh, seeks an Environmental Professional III to lead environmental programs at Neville Island and Equipment & Assembly locations. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, data system development, risk assessments, and policy creation to improve the site’s environmental performance.

You will mentor line management on EHS topics, oversee reporting, and work with the Regional Center of Excellence to ensure best practices while shaping the site’s

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university is required (environmental management discipline, safety, industrial hygiene, chemistry, chemical engineering)
  • A master’s degree or equivalent is preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience of NPDES water permit management including DMR, reporting, and data collection review/interpretation is required
  • 3-5 years’ experience with RCRA hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal programs is required
  • 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a proven track record of reducing environmental risks and maintaining compliance with regulations is required
  • Experience with compliance software is preferred
  • Experience with data collection and analysis is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Identify and champion impactful initiatives seeking continuous improvement in safety performance and environmental compliance
  • Conduct PFAS risk assessments and monitor control solutions to reduce risks
  • Gauge and correct the execution of site EHS programs through inspections, audits, senior leader and cold-eye reviews
  • Coach, mentor, and support the development and guidance of line management on EHS topics
  • Oversee the filing of all internal, corporate, and required government reporting relating to regulatory compliance
  • Maintains an Environmental compliance calendar, audits compliance system routinely, and ensure compliance gaps are corrected
  • Ensure compliance with site permits and plans (RCRA waste, EPA Air, NPDES, and SWPPP)
  • Manage and ensure compliance with the waste management program (hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal)
  • Establish both a short-term and long-term Environmental strategy for the site in conjunction with guidance from the Plant Manager and CCC/Chemviron Center of Excellence
  • This EHS strategy shall be monitored as a KPI across the site and the incumbent will establish accountability channels to ensure that all levels of the organization delivers Environmental results
  • This individual shall also participate and lead cultural transformation across the site to achieve sustainable results
  • Work closely with the Regional Center of Excellence leaders to verify quality of programs and processes via audit and self-assessment tools
  • Proactively drive awareness and communicates best practices related to Environment, promoting an autonomous EHS culture
  • As required, meet with regulatory agencies • Partner with other key EHS team members during routine calls
  • Become a technical expert on the site process technologies
  • Help operations navigate complex regulations and company standards

Hours of work : Full-time position with hours Monday-Friday 9:00 AM-5:00 PM

The site Environmental Professional III will provide both leadership and tactical support to the Environmental programs at the Neville Island (80%) and Equipment & Assembly (20%) manufacturing locations. With strategic guidance from both the central EHS function and local plant manager, this hands‑on leadership position will ensure local legislative compliance, develop and maintain environmental data systems, perform and maintain environmental risk assessments, develop site policies and improve the “E” culture on site, and provide environmental training

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
