Job summary

CME Associates seeks an Environmental Planning and Permitting Division Lead in Tennessee to drive business development, oversee operations, and deliver NEPA and permitting projects. You will guide staff, manage client relationships, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements across projects.

The role requires 10+ years in NEPA/permitting, and leadership for multi-disciplinary teams. A hybrid work schedule and strong compensation package are offered, with focus on

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Civil Engineering, Biology, Archaeology, Geology, Natural or Environmental Sciences or related field.
• 10+ years of professional experience in NEPA and/or permitting.
• Ability to review environmental documents for technical and regulatory completeness.
• Knowledge of NEPA and environmental permitting processes.
• Experience with state and federal regulatory agencies.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Adobe products and GIS.
• Leadership, business development, client management, project management and production experience.
• Proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets.
• Ability to guide junior staff and participate in environmental planning and permitting.

Responsibilities

• Aid in the development of NEPA documents and/or permit applications.
• Assist staff in environmental planning and permitting.

• Ensure projects comply with applicable local, state and federal guidelines and codes.
• Hire and guide junior staff by providing direction and feedback to support the market.
• Act as point of contact for Environmental Planning & Permitting.
• Development of project work plan and scope of work, manage projects and client relationships.
• Administer quality assurance for project deliverables.
• Maintain effective communications with clients and project teams.
• Ensure staff resources are deployed productively and profitably.
• Conduct regular meetings to balance project needs with staff availability.

• Demonstrated knowledge of all levels of NEPA and/or the environmental permitting process
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and ability to interpret and apply them in project-specific context
• Experience working with state and federal regulatory agencies
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Adobe products and GIS
• Experience in Leadership, Business Development, Client Management, Project Management and Production
• Possess a proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets
• Ability to guide junior staff as well as participate in environmental planning and permitting
