Job summary

AECOM's Environmental Planning and Permitting team is seeking a Mid-level Environmental Planner with a transmission focus to join our Midwest region. This hybrid role can be based in multiple offices (Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus, Detroit, or others) and involves leading or supporting environmental planning, permitting, and NEPA work for energy projects.

You will manage due diligence, scheduling, budgets, and client relations, mentoring junior staff and contributing to proposals. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, environmental science, geography, natural resources, or engineering.
• 4 years of relevant experience in electric transmission or renewable energy permitting.
• Ability to travel for agency/client meetings as needed.
• US citizenship may be required for certain projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support environmental planning and compliance for energy projects, including permitting with state agencies.
• Manage early-stage due diligence for siting energy projects and infrastructure.
• Provide project management on small to mid-sized projects, tracking schedules and budgets.
• Prepare environmental documents and entitlements, focusing on NEPA and state approvals.
• Support Midwest-wide projects and contribute to marketing and proposals.
• Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance.
