Job description

What We're Looking For

At HNTB, you can create a career that is meaningful to you while building communities that matter to all of us. For more than a century, we have been delivering solutions for some of the largest, most complex infrastructure projects across the country. With our historic growth, it is an exciting time to join our team of employee-owners.

This opportunity involves providing environmental support from concept development through project completion, including researching, gathering, and analyzing data, preparing project materials, and applying environmental law and policy to ensure compliance on behalf of the client. The role requires collaboration and communication with clients and the community, creating and delivering presentations and reports. The position may also involve serving as a task lead, providing technical guidance, and mentoring early-career staff.

What You’ll Do:
  • Analyze and review the design plan and identify deliverables.
  • Lead planning processes and develop technical solutions that meet project needs.
  • Lead tasks related to data compilation and analysis across disciplines, proposing technical solutions. Collect, organize, research, and analyze raw data using recognized tools.
  • Prepare graphics, technical reports, fee proposals, and RFP responses for planning projects.
  • Create presentation materials, concepts, graphics, and reports for clients and community groups.
  • Conduct public meetings, hearings, community workshops, and interface with client groups and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with clients, sub-consultants, and internal teams to complete tasks.
  • Assist in directing project teams and mentoring less experienced staff.
  • Contribute to preparing scopes of work, fee proposals, and RFP responses.
  • Maintain client relationships and interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, or related field, with 6 years of relevant experience, or
  • Master's Degree in the same fields, with 5 years of relevant experience.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and client-specific programs, with a commitment to staying current with updates.
  • Knowledge of process management, overseeing schedule, budget, and deliverables, and guiding others.
  • Experience as a Task Lead for moderately complex projects, capable of contributing to scopes and budgets with minimal oversight.
  • Advanced understanding of environmental laws (e.g., NEPA, local, state, federal), ensuring legal compliance, and overseeing permit processes.
  • Ability to prepare scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and environmental review documents, serving as a Task Lead for complex transportation projects.
What We Prefer:
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
