Job summary
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation seeks an Environmental Planner 2 to lead environmental review for transportation projects in Clearfield County. This full‑time civil service role offers a daytime schedule, potential telework after probation, and a starting salary range of $60,538 to $92,010
Qualifications
- Two years of experience as an Environmental Planner 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Five years of progressive professional experience in local, regional, or state environmental planning; or
- A Master’s degree in planning or one of the environmental sciences and two years of progressive professional environmental planning experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

- Impact Analysis: Evaluate effects of transportation projects on natural, cultural, recreational, and community resources

- Training Development: Develop and deliver environmental training for district design, construction, and maintenance staff

As an Environmental Planner 2 with the PA Department of Transportation, you will help lead environmental review efforts for transportation projects that shape communities. This position provides environmental expertise and coordination for transportation projects throughout the district. The role ensures project planning, design, and construction follow environmental laws, policies, and best practices.
As an Environmental Planner 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Environmental Documents: Coordinate preparation and review of categorical exclusions, technical reports, and mitigation plans for projects of varying complexity

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time after completing a probationary term. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Clearfield, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
- Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $60,538 (before taxes).
