Job Summary

Langan is seeking an Environmental Permitting and Compliance Engineer, Scientist, or Project Manager to join its collaborative team in Fort Lauderdale or Miami, FL. This individual will play a key role in performing air permitting and compliance, industrial wastewater and stormwater compliance, storage tank registration and compliance evaluations, waste management, multimedia environmental compliance audits, and developing monitoring and spill prevention and contingency plans. You will have the opportunity to guide and review staff work, prepare permits and plans, and interact with clients and senior management.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare permits and compliance programs for various environmental media, including air, wastewater, stormwater, waste, spill prevention, and storage tanks, EPCRA (Tier II, TRI);
• Perform multi-media environmental compliance audits, gap assessments, inspections, and program reviews;
• Develop and support implementation of monitoring and spill prevention and contingency plans (SPCC, FRP, SWPPP, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans);
• Provide oversight and management of junior staff for specific projects;
• Lead or assist in proposal development, including scope and cost estimation;
• Manage project budgets and assist with invoicing as project or task manager;
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors/subcontractors, and internal practice leaders;
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service and responsiveness;
• Manage and deliver multiple projects within budgets, schedules, and deadlines;
• Prepare technical documents such as reports, plans, permit applications;
• Train and mentor junior staff;
• Support multidisciplinary engineering projects across the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering or Science; Master's preferred;
• 5+ years of experience with environmental regulations and permitting;
• Professional certification preferred;
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification;
• Ability to manage multiple clients and projects effectively;
• Willingness to identify new client opportunities;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills;
• Ability to work independently and in teams;
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
