Job summary

The State of Missouri seeks an Environmental Program Assistant/Analyst to review permit applications, analyze data, and draft regulatory permits for water protection projects in the Lewis and Clark State Office Building, Jefferson City. The role interfaces with domestic, municipal, industrial, and agricultural facilities and requires strong regulatory interpretation skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 0-4 years of relevant experience.
Preferred degree program would include Environmental Science or Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Hydrology or Water Management, Physical Science, Natural Resource Management, Soil Conservation, or a closely related field.
Ability to interpret and apply state statutes and federal regulations.
Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration.

Responsibilities

Conduct detailed analyses of permit applications for NPDES and State permits for various facilities.
Draft permits, issue public notices, review input, and respond to comments.
Coordinate with permittees, regulators, and stakeholders to implement requirements.
Attend field/site visits to understand treatment technologies or processes when needed.
Provide exceptional customer service to permittees, consultants, and the public.
