Department Overview:
Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute is part of the UW Aquatic Sciences Center with satellite locations across the state, including Milwaukee and Bristol. At Sea Grant, we work to support and enhance the sustainable use, conservation, and health of Great Lakes resources and the well-being of Great Lakes communities through research, education, and outreach.
Position Details:

- Hours Per Week: Minimum 15, Maximum 25
- Schedule: 15-25 hours a week, Monday through Friday, with some hours on weekends and holidays. Schedules are flexible and can be completed during daylight hours.
- Salary/Wage Range: $15.00/hour

Qualifications:
- Background in biology, ecology, conservation, communications, or a related field.
- Interest in environmental conservation and outreach.
- Willingness to work outdoors near water.
- Flexibility to work occasional nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Access to reliable transportation to work sites in Milwaukee County, such as Lake Michigan and the Milwaukee River. Mileage reimbursement available for personal vehicle use.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Effective communication with the public, including volunteers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Position Responsibilities:
- Conduct aquatic invasive species (AIS) boater education outreach in accordance with the Clean Boats, Clean Waters program.
- Assist in planning and executing training for volunteer watercraft inspectors, AIS volunteers, water quality volunteers, Snapshot Day, and other community events.
- Assist with AIS surveys on lakes, rivers, and wetlands.
- Promote upcoming events by posting flyers and updating online calendars.
- Represent Wisconsin Sea Grant at community events and outreach activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to work outdoors in various conditions, including hot, cool temperatures, and weather variations. Indoor work may be required during rain or extreme heat.
