Orange County Sanitation District is seeking an Environmental Supervisor (Operational Microbiology and Chemistry) to lead a team performing microbiological, chemical, and physical analyses of wastewater and related samples, ensuring accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The role requires strong leadership, project oversight, QA, and coordination with regulators, internal stakeholders, and field operations to maintain treatment performance and support district goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or a related field is required.
  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible work experience in environmental compliance and regulatory monitoring; wastewater management; environmental protection program; and/or performing advanced physical, chemical, microbiological, and biological preparation and analysis in a laboratory, which may include two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff in environmental sciences laboratory and regulatory efforts.
  • Establishes, maintains, and manages schedules and methods for providing assigned services and activities.
  • Oversees applicable regional monitoring programs and efforts; identifies resource needs and allocates resources.
  • Participates in division leadership and coordinates with other Lab groups to obtain samples in a timely manner.
  • Prepares and administers assigned program budget and monitors expenditures.
  • Ensures compliance with safety programs and QA/QC policies; reviews data and reports for quality control.
