Job summary

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all aspects of environmental compliance within all business units and facilities as assigned; communicating with internal management and environmental consultants to submit environmental permit applications, record‑keeping forms, and reports for all applicable sites.
  • Develop, coordinate, and direct multi‑disciplined projects, permits, and plans that include air, storm water, wastewater, and spill prevention for both construction and operating activities.
  • Work with and assist internal audit as requested.
  • Manage the acquisition, protection and maintenance of the assigned group’s physical and financial assets; operate such assets to maximize income potential while meeting stakeholder needs.
  • Develop and interpret knowledge of trends within environmental regulations and industrial processes; make recommendations on incorporating these changes into business operations.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of all reports to local, state, and federal agencies as outlined in permits of all media types.
  • Prepare summaries of relevant permits and compliance requirements for use by facility management.
  • Act as a resource for locations by training and coaching facility personnel, communicating with consultants and compliance enforcement agencies, and assist with managing spills and catastrophic events.
  • Report compliance issues to appropriate parties and assist with developing timely solutions.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of final QA/QC for all team documents and deliverables.
  • Depending on the area supported, may oversee staffing activities (hiring, training, scheduling and overtime management, task delegation, employee performance management, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education Required: Bachelor of Science in environmental science, biology, chemistry, zoology, engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
  • Experience Required: 5 years in a fast‑paced project and compliance environment, including 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Preferred: Industry‑specific software experience.
  • Certification Required: Method9 Certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Basic knowledge of applicable grain, oilseed processing, and bulk storage industry and industry trends as it pertains to applicable state regulations and 40CFR. Intermediate computer skills, Microsoft Office suite. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, oral and written communication. Excellent organizational, time management and multitasking. Ability to work autonomously and with limited supervision. Availability on‑call. Preference for active professional group participation.
Physical Demands & Requirements

Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. Hearing and visual acuity requirements as described in the original text. Travel required up to 50%.

Pay

Expected base pay range: $90,869.00 – $119,053.00.
