Job summary

Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) seeks an Attorney to join its Clean Air & Water team to protect New England’s environment. Boston-based preferred, with flexibility for other CLF offices and some NE remote work.

The Staff Attorney I/II or Senior Attorney role focuses on litigating Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act cases in federal court. Some cases may involve state claims and other federal claims to safeguard communities, especially historically disadvantaged ones.

Qualifications

• Law degree and active bar membership in good standing in any state.
• Staff Attorney I: at least 2 years of relevant legal experience; Staff Attorney II: at least 5 years; Senior Attorney: at least 7 years.
• Experience in environmental law and litigation.
• Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills.
• Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Devise and execute legal strategies to achieve CLF’s advocacy goals.
• Represent CLF and other parties in litigation proceedings.
• Negotiate civil penalties, injunctive relief, and fee and cost recovery.
• Advise CLF and community groups on legal and policy matters.
• Build coalitions among community groups, public officials, business interests, and other organizations.
• Write public educational materials, articles and communicate advocacy through news and social media.
