Goodwin Recruiting in Englewood Cliffs, NJ seeks a mid-level Associate Attorney for a varied practice spanning environmental litigation, regulatory compliance, and transactions. You will have direct client contact and meaningful responsibility while managing matters with limited supervision.

The role requires 5–9 years post-admission and NJ bar in good standing; New York admission is preferred or eligible after hire. Expect 2–3 days per week in the Englewood Cliffs office.

Qualifications

• 5–9 years of post-admission legal experience.
• At least three years of substantive environmental practice.
• Active New Jersey bar admission in good standing.
• Demonstrated experience in environmental litigation, regulatory compliance, and environmental aspects of transactions.
• Ability to manage matters and client communications with limited supervision.
• Writing sample and references available upon request.
• New York admission preferred, or eligibility for admission within a reasonable period after hire.

Responsibilities

• Handle environmental litigation involving contamination, contribution and cost recovery, insurance coverage, and NJDEP proceedings.
• Draft motions, manage discovery, participate in depositions, and coordinate with technical experts.
• Advise clients on environmental compliance, permitting, enforcement, and remediation obligations.
• Work with NJDEP and Licensed Site Remediation Professionals.
• Conduct environmental transactional diligence and negotiate provisions allocating environmental risks and responsibilities.
