Environmental Defense Fund, Inc. (EDF) invites law students to join the U.S. Legal & Regulatory internship program for Fall 2026. The part-time role supports climate and air-pollution initiatives across DC, Boulder, and remote work across the U.S., offering meaningful cases and advocacy experience.

You will conduct legal research, draft materials, and participate in public hearings and regulatory comments, gaining exposure to landmark cases and policy work in a leading nonprofit environment.

Qualifications

• Current student at an ABA-approved law school.
• Interest in national climate and air quality issues.
• Diversity, equity, inclusion experience intersects with environmental law.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Well organized, motivated and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal and factual research on climate and clean air issues.
• Contribute to litigation filings and administrative comments.
• Draft public-facing documents about legal issues.
• Represent EDF at public hearings before government agencies.
• Support litigation efforts and regulatory advocacy.
• Support environmental justice initiatives addressing disparate impacts of climate change.
• Advance EDF’s organizational effectiveness and culture goals.
