Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New Jersey Bar in good standing. Admission to the New York Bar is a plus.
• Approximately 2-5 years of relevant legal experience is preferred; candidates with comparable regulatory, litigation, or environmental experience will also be considered.
• Experience with or knowledge of federal and New Jersey environmental laws and regulatory programs is preferred.
• Strong legal research, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, staff, clients, and outside professionals.
• Demonstrated initiative, sound judgement, and commitment to providing high-quality client service.
• Exceptional time management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on federal and state environmental laws, regulations, and compliance.
• Assist with environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, enforcement actions, and remediation.
• Research environmental statutes, regulations, administrative decisions, and case law.
• Draft legal memoranda, correspondence, pleadings, motions, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Represent and assist clients in matters involving environmental regulatory agencies and governmental authorities.
• Support environmental due diligence in connection with real estate, corporate, and other business transactions.
• Assist with environmental litigation, administrative proceedings, and regulatory enforcement matters.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys across the firm's practice areas on matters involving environmental considerations.
• Communicate directly with clients, consultants, experts, governmental agencies, and opposing counsel as appropriate.
• Monitor developments in federal and New Jersey environmental laws and regulations.

Preferred Experience

Experience involving one or more of the following is a plus: environmental permitting and compliance; site remediation and contaminated properties; environmental due diligence; regulatory enforcement; environmental litigation; land use and development matters involving environmental issues; or interaction with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and other environmental regulatory agencies.

The annualized salary range for this position is $130,000 - $170,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based upon experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
