Environmental & Land Use – Senior Associate Attorney

Location: Washington, D.C.

Our client, a highly regarded AmLaw 50 firm, is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney to join their Environmental & Land Use Practice Group in Washington, D.C. office. This position offers the opportunity to advise clients on complex environmental regulatory matters, including theComprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act(CERCLA) andResource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) compliance and enforcement, while working alongside top-tier attorneys in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Candidate Profile:
  • JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.
  • Active Bar Admission in D.C.
  • 5–7 years of substantive experience in environmental and land use law.
  • Strong background in environmental regulatory compliance, including CERCLA and RCRA enforcement matters.
  • Experience advising clients on hazardous, solid, medical, pharmaceutical, and/or controlled substance waste matters is preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and interact directly with clients.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise clients on compliance with federal and state environmental regulations, including CERCLA and RCRA.
  • Represent clients in enforcement actions, regulatory proceedings, and litigation matters related to environmental law.
  • Draft and negotiate environmental provisions in corporate and real estate transactions.
  • Provide strategic counsel on land use and permitting issues for development projects.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams to develop innovative legal solutions for clients.
  • Stay informed on emerging environmental policies and regulations.
