Job summary

Responsibilities include preparing samples and standards, performing analyses by SOPs and EPA methods, maintaining instruments, reviewing results for QC/QA, and communicating in Spanish and English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences with a concentration in Chemistry.
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and software.
• Fluent communication in Spanish and English.
• Able to work in a team and manage multiple tasks with high accuracy.

• Perform chemical analyses according to SOPs and EPA methods.
• Operate, calibrate, and perform basic preventive maintenance on instruments.
• Prepare and work with calibration curves.
• Review results for QC/QA and report deviations to supervisor.
• Ensure holding times and deadlines are met; maintain clean work area and PPE compliance.
• Participate in method validations and proficiency testing.

We are seeking an Environmental Laboratory Technician to join our team and contribute to the performance of reliable analyses, while meeting our quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare samples, solutions, standards, and reference materials for analysis.
• Perform chemical analyses in accordance with SOPs and applicable EPA methods.
• Operate, calibrate, and perform basic preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments.
• Prepare and work with calibration curves.
• Perform calculations and complete documentation related to analyses.
• Review results to ensure compliance with QC/QA requirements and notify the supervisor of any deviations.
• Meet analytical holding times and established deadlines for reporting results.
• Keep the work area and equipment clean and organized.
• Comply with health and safety requirements and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Participate in method validations, proficiency testing, and other tasks necessary for laboratory operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences with a concentration in Chemistry
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and software.
• Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish and English.
• Ability to work as part of a team, manage multiple tasks, and maintain high standards of quality and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in environmental laboratories.
• Knowledge of SOPs, quality control, and method validation in environmental chemistry.
• Basic knowledge of analytical techniques such as titrations, gravimetry, extractions, digestions, distillations, potentiometric techniques, colorimetry, metals-related analyses, instrumental techniques, and gas chromatography (GC).
• Attention to detail and a strong sense of professional responsibility.
