Job summary

Lozier Environmental Consultants, LLC. is seeking an Environmental Laboratory Intern to support daily operations and gain practical experience in microbiology, environmental science, and lab practices.

You will work with analysts and managers, handling sample processing, data management, and safety procedures. Currently pursuing or recently completed an Associate's or bachelor's degree in microbiology, biology, environmental science, chemistry, or public health.

• Assist laboratory personnel with daily laboratory operations.
• Prepare media, reagents, and laboratory supplies under supervision.
• Receive, log, label, and document environmental samples.
• Support laboratory recordkeeping, reporting, and data management.
• Assist with equipment monitoring, calibration documentation, and maintenance.
• Help maintain laboratory cleanliness, inventory, and safety.
• Support analysts during increased workload and follow safety/regulatory requirements.
• Perform other related duties and learning assignments as directed.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Environmental Laboratory Intern supports daily laboratory activities while gaining practical experience in environmental science, microbiology, public health, laboratory operations, and environmental consulting. Interns work alongside laboratory analysts and managers and receive meaningful hands-on exposure to industry-standard environmental and microbiological testing practices.

Lozier Environmental Consultants, LLC. is a New York State-certified environmental laboratory and consulting firm providing testing and consulting services throughout New York State. The company performs mold, water, food, lead, radon, and asbestos testing for commercial, municipal, industrial, and residential clients.

INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist laboratory personnel with daily laboratory operations.

Prepare media, reagents, and laboratory supplies under appropriate supervision.

Receive, log, label, and document environmental samples in accordance with established procedures.

Support laboratory recordkeeping, scientific reporting, and data management.

Assist with equipment monitoring, calibration documentation, and routine maintenance activities.

Help maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, inventory, and safety.

Support laboratory analysts during periods of increased workload.

Follow laboratory safety, quality assurance, confidentiality, and regulatory requirements.

Perform other related duties and learning assignments as directed.

Listeria identification procedures.

Environmental quality control practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Currently pursuing or recently completed an Associate's or bachelor's degree in microbiology, Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Public Health, or a related scientific discipline.

Previous laboratory experience is helpful but not required.

Relevant coursework, laboratory classes, volunteer work, or other practical experience may be considered.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This internship is primarily performed in a laboratory environment and may involve routine exposure to environmental samples, laboratory chemicals, biological materials, and equipment. The intern must be able to use required personal protective equipment, follow all safety procedures, remain at a workstation for extended periods, perform repetitive hand movements, and move laboratory supplies and samples as needed.
