Job summary

Narragansett Bay Commission in Providence, RI, seeks a Laboratory Technician LA018 to perform routine chemical and biological testing in support of plant and field operations. You will receive samples, preserve them, and ensure chain-of-custody protocols are followed.

Responsibilities include calibration of equipment, meticulous record-keeping, and collaboration with other departments. Training others and periodic off-shifts or weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a two-year technical college degree program (biology, microbiology, chemistry, environment science) or equivalent required.
• Requires knowledge of analytical testing and sampling techniques and procedures as applied to wastewater collection, processing, and discharge.

Responsibilities

• Perform various routine chemical and biological testing in support of NBC plant/field operations.
• Receive and preserve samples; maintain chain of custody protocols.
• Set up, maintain and calibrate laboratory testing and sampling equipment.
• Maintain accurate records and computer databases of tests and activities.
• Interact with other departments regarding laboratory requirements.
• Orient and train other laboratory personnel.
• Occasionally work off-shifts and be available for emergency call-ins; weekends/holidays as scheduled.
