Job summary

NEW Solutions is seeking a Laboratory Technician (GS3556-MO-001) to support the US Geological Survey in Columbia, MO under the Experienced Services Program. The position is 20 hours per week at a wage of $29 per hour, with enrollment through the ESP in an at-will relationship.

The role involves routine laboratory work, data entry, inventory management, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Field trips and safety training are required as part of the duties.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 year(s) of experience in environmental science or biology OR BA/BS Degree in Biology, Ecology, Fisheries, Environmental Science, or closely related field.
• Experience with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams.
• Laboratory practices and documentation following SOPs, with basic understanding of biological or environmental sciences.

Responsibilities

• Operation and maintenance of routine laboratory equipment.
• Assistance with experimental setup and study execution.
• Laboratory housekeeping, inventory, and safety compliance; data entry, QA/QC, and maintenance of records.
