Environmental Justice Air-Quality Engineer (EJE5)

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Air-Quality Engineer to support the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in its mission to promote environmental justice and equity.

The selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing environmental assessment documents and policies from federal, state, and local agencies to determine the geographic reach and scope of infrastructure project impacts on environmental justice communities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review and analyze environmental assessment documents and policies from federal, state, and local agencies to identify impacts on environmental justice communities related to infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of air quality, air pollution, air permitting, and air emissions in the context of FERC-regulated energy projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure environmental justice considerations are integrated into FERC processes and decision-making.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on air quality regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop detailed reports and presentations summarizing findings and conclusions related to the geographic scope of environmental justice impacts.

Requirements include:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of air quality regulations, air pollution control technologies, and air permitting processes.
  • Proficiency in conducting air emissions modeling and assessments.
  • Familiarity with environmental justice principles, concepts, and their integration into regulatory processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex environmental issues.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Atmospheric Science, or a related field is required.
