Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking an entry-level environmental/geotechnical assistant to support field and office staff in Maryland. The role involves site assessments, sampling, and assisting with remediation system tasks, IH evaluations, and lab coordination.

The position targets candidates pursuing civil engineering or environmental science degrees, with an emphasis on dependable, detail-oriented teamwork and independent work in field and office settings.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Zero years of related experience required.
  • A valid driver's license may be required when driving for ECS subsidiaries.
  • Clear communication and organized work ethic are essential.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental staff with field and office tasks.
  • Assist with environmental compliance and site assessments.
  • Conduct soil, groundwater, and media sampling; hydrogeologic studies.
  • Assist with remediation system design, installation, and O&M.
  • Assist with UST assessments and IH evaluations.
  • Coordinate laboratory activities and testing.
  • Attend project meetings and help resolve issues.
  • Contribute to proposal preparation and documentation.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities

  • Performs a combination of field and office work supporting environmental staff
  • Assists with environmental compliance activities (e.g., NPDES/spec compliance)
  • Conducts:
    • Environmental site assessments
    • Soil, groundwater, and media sampling
    • Hydrogeologic studies
  • Assists with:
    • Remediation system design, installation, and O&M
    • Underground storage tank (UST) assessments
    • Industrial hygiene evaluations
  • Supports laboratory coordination and testing
  • Attends project meetings and assists with issue resolution
  • Assists with proposal preparation and documentation
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • 0 years of related experience
  • Must be pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or other degree related to our services
  • If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and organized work ethic
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision
  • Working knowledge of geotechnical field investigation and testing methods
  • Basic ability to interpret field data and observations

Military Qualifications
  • The following US Military ranks would qualify for this position:
    • E-4

The expected pay range for this role and location is $20-$22/hour. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
