Job summary

EnviroScience, Inc. is seeking a full-time Inspector for a remote-hybrid role in Ohio.

Responsibilities include field inspections of industrial, commercial, construction and residential sites to ensure environmental compliance, data collection of samples, and preparing detailed reports with recommendations. The role requires strong communication, independent field work, and willingness to travel across the state, with some weekends or out-of-town travel.

Qualifications

  • High School Degree is required.
  • Entry-level position with no prior experience required.
  • Preferred knowledge of construction techniques and stormwater/runoff management is a plus.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Inspection and Compliance Monitoring
  • Conduct field inspections of industrial, commercial, construction and residential sites to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Inspect facilities for adherence to air quality, water quality, hazardous waste management, and other environmental standards based on the practice area.
  • Monitor construction and development projects for compliance with environmental permits and mitigation plans.
  • Communication skills with onsite personnel to relay site findings, concerns, recommendations, or project designs.
Data Collection and Analysis
  • Collect and analyze environmental samples, including soil, water, air, and biological specimens.
  • Use monitoring equipment to measure environmental parameters such as pollutant levels and noise levels.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, sample collections, photographs, and monitoring activities.
Reporting and Documentation
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, including findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
  • Skilled in Microsoft applications including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Document violations and prepare notices of non-compliance or enforcement actions.
  • Assist in the preparation of environmental impact assessments and regulatory compliance reports.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local environmental regulations and standards.
  • Knowledge of the Ohio EPA Construction General Permit (OHC00006), and construction Best Management Practices as described in the Ohio Department of Natural Resources's Rainwater and Land Development Manual.
  • Provide guidance to businesses, developers, and the public on environmental compliance requirements or design criteria.
Collaboration and Coordination
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and planners to address environmental issues and develop mitigation strategies.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: High School Degree
  • Experience: None, entry-level
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: Knowledge of construction techniques, soils, and an understanding of stormwater runoff. Knowledge of the Ohio EPA Construction General Permit (OHC00006), and construction Best Management Practices as described in the Ohio Department of Natural Resources's Rainwater and Land Development Manual.

Work Environment

We enjoy and appreciate collaboration as a team and expect great communication, but all work very independently in the field as an inspector, with minimal supervision. We are on the road a lot (day travel only, you will be home each evening, unless out of town work is scheduled for a project), outdoors in varying types of weather, city/residential neighborhoods, and sometimes in remote and challenging locations. This position is a remote hybrid role, meaning employees will work remotely from the field or home, but may be required to come into the Stow, Ohio office to retrieve/return their company vehicle each day or on an as needed basis for training and report collaboration in the office.

Standard office equipment will be provided to work in the office.
