Job summary

King County in Seattle seeks a skilled Environmental Hydrology Technician to monitor groundwater levels, support a flow gauge network, collect water quality samples, and enter data for analysis. You will work with a licensed hydrogeologist to keep projects on time and within budget, delivering high-quality data and insights.

The role involves significant field time and a hybrid work model, with the primary onsite location at King Street Center.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, geology, or hydrology or two years of professional groundwater/stream science experience.
• Experience with environmental data entry and databases.
• Field data collection and water level sampling in a field setting.
• Statistical analysis using R, Python, or similar tools.
• Experience writing on technical topics for varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Field Data Collection – collect water level data, discharge, and environmental parameters at groundwater wells and stream gauges.
• Water quality sampling – collect samples for analysis at the King County Environmental Lab.
• Data Entry – input field data into databases and ensure data quality.
• Data Analysis and visualization – perform analysis using statistical programs and ArcGIS.
• Communication and Education – develop and deliver presentations and write documents for diverse audiences.
• Collaboration – coordinate with hydrogeologists and field team to deliver timely results.
