Job summary

The Opportunity

NELCO Worldwide is seeking a hands-on EHS Coordinator who enjoys being where the work happens-on manufacturing floors, at active construction sites, and alongside field teams. This role is ideal for an early-career safety professional ready to build broad experience in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, employee training, and corrective-action management while receiving direction and support from experienced EHS leadership.

You will help turn safety requirements into practical, visible actions that protect employees, support our customers, and strengthen NELCO's safety culture across technically complex projects.

What You Will Do

Field and Operational Safety

• Conduct routine inspections of manufacturing facilities, construction projects, and field-service activities; document observations and communicate practical corrective actions.
• Participate in project pre-mobilization meetings and operational safety reviews.
• Assist project teams with Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and task-specific risk assessments.
• Track corrective actions, follow up with responsible parties, and elevate overdue or high-risk items appropriately.

Industrial Hygiene and Compliance

• Support industrial hygiene monitoring and exposure assessments, including air sampling and other environmental evaluations, under established procedures and direction.
• Maintain, inspect, and coordinate calibration of industrial hygiene monitoring equipment.
• Research and help interpret OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal, state, and local EHS requirements.
• Prepare clear reports summarizing inspections, monitoring results, findings, and recommended next steps.

Training, Systems, and Program Support

• Coordinate employee safety training, certifications, and compliance records; assist with training delivery and employee communications.
• Support Salus, Intelex, or similar EHS platforms by maintaining data, tracking actions, monitoring training status, and assisting users.
• Assist with incident investigations, documentation, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action follow-up.
• Administer the Safety Boot and Prescription Safety Glasses programs and coordinate purchasing and inventory of PPE, EHS equipment, and safety supplies.

• Inspections and reports are timely, accurate, and focused on actionable solutions.
• Training, certification, and corrective-action records remain current and audit-ready.
• Employees and managers view EHS as an accessible, practical partner in safe operations.
• Potential hazards are identified early, communicated clearly, and followed through to closure.

Qualifications

Required

• Associate degree, bachelor's degree, certificate, or equivalent combination of education and relevant EHS, construction, manufacturing, military, internship, or co-op experience.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and foundational safety principles, with the ability to research unfamiliar requirements.
• Strong written communication, organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
• Confidence communicating with employees, supervisors, project teams, and leadership in office, plant, and field environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately 25%-50%, depending on project needs, and to work at active construction and manufacturing locations.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet company requirements for travel to project sites.

Preferred-not required

• One to three years of Environmental Health & Safety, construction safety, manufacturing safety, field-service safety, or related experience; relevant internships and co-ops count.
• Experience with industrial hygiene sampling or monitoring equipment.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry training, or willingness to obtain it within six months of hire.
• Familiarity with Salus, Intelex, or another Environmental Health & Safety management system.
• GSP, ASP, CHST, OHSA or similar credential-or interest in pursuing a professional safety credential.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This role regularly operates computers and standard office equipment and frequently moves through manufacturing facilities and active construction sites. The employee must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, navigate uneven or active work areas, and lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Work may involve varying weather conditions, elevated noise, dust, and other controlled construction or manufacturing hazards.

The employee must be able to wear required PPE, which may include safety-toe footwear, hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, hearing protection, long pants, and other project-specific protective equipment.
