Job summary

Associated Packaging, Inc. is seeking an EH&S Specialist to develop and lead the company’s EH&S program at the Gallatin, TN headquarters. The role ensures regulatory and customer compliance across operations.

You will manage safety policies, training, records, and sustainability initiatives while coordinating with HR and customer risk management teams. Travel to branches may be required as part of duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health or related field preferred.
• One to three years of related experience preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and OSHA policies.

Responsibilities

• Ensure home office and branch operations comply with OSHA and other regulations.
• Maintain the Safety Program and Manual; coordinate training and recertifications.
• Maintain hazardous material records (disposal, spills, etc).
• Track and report OSHA 300 & 300A logs; investigate incidents and drive corrective actions.
• Develop Sustainability policy and coordinate related projects (energy reduction, recycling).
• Collaborate with HR to implement healthy work environment policies and procedures.
• Support customer risk management requirements related to EH&S.

The EH&S Specialist role is located at the Associated Packaging, Inc. headquarters in Gallatin, TN. This role will develop and lead the EH&S program for the company to comply with regulatory and customer requirements.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure that the home office and branch operations are in full compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations. Keeps current with applicable regulations that affect our business.
• Maintain the Safety Program and Manual. Develops, conducts and/or coordinates training of personnel to comply with the requirements of the manual. Ensures employees stay current with required certifications/recertifications such as Fork Lifts. Maintain records.
• Maintains hazardous material records (disposal, spills, etc)
• Tracks and reports OSHA 300 & 300A logs for all facilities. Investigates incidents and near misses and facilitates corrective actions where needed. Monitors workers comp claims for impact to the EMR rating (Experience Modification Rating) with a goal of less than 1.0. Facilitates the identification of root causes of claims and works with the branches to implement corrective actions.
• Facilitates the development of a Sustainability policy. Identifies and coordinates related projects to support the policy such as energy reduction, recycling and promotion of sustainable packaging materials to our customers. Prepares reports on the status of the Sustainability initiative.
• Works with the HR department to identify and implement policies and procedures to maintain a healthy work environment.
• Supports customer risk management requirements as identified by third party service providers on behalf of the customer related to EH&S. This could entail submitting data and reports, ensuring training is accomplished and other related activities.
• Other tasks as assigned

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health or related field preferred.
• One to three years of related experience preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies

• Some domestic travel to any of the (10) API branches
