Job description

About Giga

Giga is building gigawatts of AI data centers to hasten a future of intelligence and abundance. We build data centers fast and at scale by combining the capabilities of an equipment supplier, engineering firm, general contractor, and real estate developer under one roof. Our team moves quickly and thinks practically. If you’re ready to make an impact in an industry that matters, we’re looking for people like you.

Why join Giga
  • The Pace: We’re building at a speed most companies talk about but never actually operate at. If you’ve been bored somewhere else, you won’t be here.
  • The Impact: Every person at Giga touches the work that matters. No layers, no waiting for approval chains. You’ll see your fingerprints on what we ship.
  • The Team: A team of operators defining the future of AI infrastructure. We recruit A-players from the most innovative companies in the world, and they choose Giga because the work here means more.
  • The Moment: AI doesn’t run without power, and that’s us. Giga is the picks and shovels behind the AI revolution. This industry is about to explode, and you’ll be in the room where it’s already happening.
What you’ll do

As the EHS & S Manager, you will own the full Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) function at our Houston manufacturing facility — from OSHA and environmental regulatory compliance to hazard-specific programs covering high-voltage electrical testing, transformer oil/dielectric fluid handling, overhead crane operations, and hot work. You’ll also serve as the site lead for physical security, access control, and emergency preparedness. You’ll work closely with plant leadership, production supervisors, and corporate HSE to build a proactive safety culture and keep the facility fully compliant with federal, state, and local requirements.

Where you’ll work

We are an in-office culture — velocity matters when you’re building physical infrastructure, and the best decisions happen in the room. This role is based full-time on-site at our Houston, TX manufacturing facility, with regular presence on the production floor, testing areas, and warehouse/yard.

Responsibilities

Environmental, Health & Safety Program Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the facility’s written HSE programs in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 (General Industry) and applicable EPA/TCEQ environmental regulations
  • Own facility-specific safety programs including electrical safety/arc flash (NFPA 70E) for 480V system testing, lockout/tagout, overhead crane and rigging safety, hot work, and PPE
  • Manage safe handling, storage, and spill response procedures for mineral oil-based transformer dielectric fluid and other regulated fluids used in production and testing
  • Lead job hazard analyses (JHAs) for manufacturing, testing, and maintenance operations, and ensure controls are implemented and followed
  • Conduct regular facility safety inspections and audits; track findings to closure and drive continuous improvement in safety performance
  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and injuries; determine root cause and implement corrective/preventive actions
  • Maintain OSHA recordkeeping (300/300A/301 logs) and ensure timely, accurate incident reporting to OSHA and internal stakeholders
  • Manage the facility’s industrial hygiene program, including noise, air quality, and exposure monitoring where applicable

Environmental Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with applicable air, water, waste, and chemical storage regulations (e.g., SPCC, hazardous waste generator requirements, stormwater permits)
  • Manage environmental permits, inspections, and regulatory reporting for the Houston facility
  • Oversee proper handling, storage, and disposal of used transformer oil, solvents, and other regulated waste streams

Training & Culture

  • Develop and deliver HSE training, including HAZCOM, electrical safety, LOTO, crane/rigging, confined space (as applicable), PPE, and emergency response
  • Partner with plant leadership and supervisors to build a strong site-wide safety culture and hold teams accountable to HSE standards
  • Maintain training records and certifications for all employees and relevant contractors

Security

  • Manage physical security for the facility, including access control systems, badge/visitor management, and security camera systems
  • Develop and maintain site security procedures, including protocols for after-hours access, contractor/vendor access, and asset protection
  • Serve as the facility’s primary point of contact for security incidents, and coordinate with local law enforcement as needed
  • Conduct periodic security risk assessments and recommend improvements to physical security controls

Emergency Preparedness

  • Develop and maintain the facility’s Emergency Action Plan, including evacuation procedures, severe weather (hurricane) response, and medical emergency response
  • Coordinate emergency drills and ensure employees are trained on emergency procedures
  • Maintain relationships with local fire, EMS, and emergency management agencies

Reporting & Leadership

  • Report on EHS&S performance metrics, incident trends, and program status to plant and corporate leadership
  • Manage the EHS&S budget for the facility, including PPE, training, equipment, and contracted services
  • Serve as the facility’s primary point of contact for OSHA, environmental agencies, and other regulatory bodies during inspections or audits
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, including at least 2 years in a leadership/managerial role
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1910 General Industry standards, including electrical safety, LOTO, and crane/material handling requirements
  • Experience managing environmental compliance programs in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience developing and leading physical security programs, or a demonstrated ability to take on this responsibility
  • Strong incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective action skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and hold cross-functional teams accountable to safety standards
Bonus points
  • Experience with electrical equipment manufacturing, testing, or transformer/dielectric fluid handling
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or similar certification
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification; NFPA 70E qualified electrical worker training
  • Experience with security system administration (access control, CCTV) or prior security management background
How We Work

We value people who take ownership, raise risks early, communicate directly, and follow through. Incomplete information is part of the job. Make the best decision you can, document it, and adjust as the facts change. Move quickly on reversible decisions and take more care when security, safety, financial, employee, or customer risk is involved.

Benefits
  • Subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Equity (options) in a rapidly growing startup
  • 401(k) with 4% employer match
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Parental leave
  • Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • Commuter benefits, where applicable
  • Opportunities to collaborate in person at periodic team and company on-sites
